The Fall season is easily my favorite for reading because you can snuggle up with your book with a hot apple cider and a big woven blanket. It can be challenging to find books to read because there are so many great options. When considering the right books to read, I like to think about how much time I have to set aside for reading, genre, the author’s style of writing, a standalone book or a series, if I want to repeat an author I’ve recently read, and if the story speaks to the season I’m in. So needless to say – lots to consider!
This list will give you the top recommended books to read for Fall that I guarantee you won’t be able to put down. You’ll find below thrillers, mysteries, and romance novels that incorporate all the feelings of the autumn season. If you’re looking to start a book club, these stories would be fantastic options to kick off your first club gathering. These books aren’t too serious or long in length. I’d consider these “easy” reads in terms of tone of voice and the authors’ writing styles. My favorite Fall book club atmosphere is putting together a yummy charcuterie board with different cheeses and crackers, red bottles of wine or apple cider for the non-drinkers, the fireplace on, and blankets to snuggle with during your fun and exciting conversations on the chapters you’ve read that week.
I know these entertaining and compelling books to read will keep you on your toes. You’ll find yourself saying “just one more chapter” every time you pick up your book.

Liam Noone was many things to many people. To the public, he was an exacting, self-made hotel magnate fleeing his past. Notably a cliffside cottage perched on the California coast from which he fell to his death.
The authorities rule the death accidental, but Nora and her estranged brother Sam have other ideas. As Nora and Sam form an uneasy alliance to unravel the mystery, they start putting together the pieces of their father’s past. And they uncover a family secret that changes everything.
With Laura Dave’s trademark combination of soulful suspense and evocative family drama, The Night We Lost Him is a riveting page-turner with a heartbreaking final twist that you will never see coming.

During the languid days of the Christmas break, a group of thirtysomething friends from Oxford meet to welcome in the New Year together. It’s a tradition they began as students ten years ago. For this vacation, they’ve chosen an idyllic and isolated estate in the Scottish Highlands. The perfect place to get away and unwind by themselves.
The trip begins innocently enough. Admiring the stunning if foreboding scenery, champagne in front of a crackling fire, and reminiscences about the past. But after a decade, the weight of secret resentments has grown too heavy for the group’s tenuous nostalgia to bear. Amid the boisterous revelry of New Year’s Eve, the cord holding them together snaps, just as a historic blizzard seals the lodge off from the outside world.
Two days later, on New Year’s Day, one of them is dead. . . and another of them did it.
Keep your friends close, the old adage says. But how close is too close?
DON’T BE LEFT OUT. JOIN THE PARTY NOW.

Nine years ago, Vivienne Jones nursed her broken heart like any young witch would: vodka, weepy music, bubble baths…and a curse on the horrible boyfriend. Sure, Vivi knows she shouldn’t use her magic this way, but with only an “orchard hayride” scented candle on hand, she isn’t worried it will cause him anything more than a bad hair day or two.
That is until Rhys Penhallow, descendent of the town’s ancestors, breaker of hearts, and annoyingly just as gorgeous as he always was, returns to Graves Glen, Georgia. What should be a quick trip to recharge the town’s ley lines and make an appearance at the annual fall festival turns disastrously wrong. With one calamity after another striking Rhys, Vivi realizes her silly little Ex Hex may not have been so harmless after all.
Suddenly, Graves Glen is under attack from murderous wind-up toys, a pissed off ghost, and a talking cat with some interesting things to say. Vivi and Rhys have to ignore their off the charts chemistry to work together to save the town and find a way to break the break-up curse before it’s too late.

- Publication Date: Oct. 18th, 2022
Plot Description (provided by amazon):
Lily and her ex-husband, Ryle, have just settled into a civil co-parenting rhythm when she suddenly bumps into her first love, Atlas, again. After nearly two years separated, she is elated that for once, time is on their side, and she immediately says yes when Atlas asks her on a date.
But her excitement is quickly hampered by the knowledge that, though they are no longer married, Ryle is still very much a part of her life—and Atlas Corrigan is the one man he will hate being in his ex-wife and daughter’s life.
Switching between the perspectives of Lily and Atlas, It Starts with Us picks up right where the epilogue for the “gripping, pulse-pounding” (Sarah Pekkanen, author of Perfect Neighbors) bestselling phenomenon It Ends with Us left off. Revealing more about Atlas’s past and following Lily as she embraces a second chance at true love while navigating a jealous ex-husband, it proves that “no one delivers an emotional read like Colleen Hoover” (Anna Todd, New York Times bestselling author).
